Fountainhead Control Rooms designed and furnished the expanded Cumming RTCC for the Cumming Police Department in Cumming, Georgia. The new Real Time Crime Center replaces the department’s smaller original center and provides a dedicated environment for 24/7 monitoring, real time intelligence and coordinated police response. The project includes customized Elite AIR operator consoles and an adjacent conference room furnished with a 16 person Elite MEET table.

Early Proof of the Cumming RTCC: Stolen Trailer Recovery and Jet Ski Theft Arrest

After more than 50 years in its legacy building on Veterans Memorial Boulevard, the police department in Cumming, Georgia, needed room to grow. The City of Cumming approved its first Real-Time Crime Center in late 2024, and by early 2026 the center was already proving its value, including helping investigators track a stolen trailer more than 100 miles across the state. But the legacy space limited how many operators and real-time video and data feeds the RTCC could support. So when the city planned its new headquarters, it designed the building and a custom control room together from the start. The facility opened with a ribbon cutting on April 24, 2026, giving the RTCC a larger, purpose-built home at the center of the department, with a control room designed and furnished by Fountainhead Control Rooms.

What Did Fountainhead Design for the Cumming RTCC?

Fountainhead designed and furnished the expanded Cumming RTCC and its adjacent conference room. The Real Time Crime Center includes customized Elite AIR operator consoles arranged around the room’s visualization environment, while the adjoining conference room features a 16 person Elite MEET table for briefings, coordination and decision making.

The Real-Time Crime Center. The room is built around a 12-display LCD video wall (configured 2 x 6) that gives every operator the same shared view. Three sit/stand consoles face the wall with clear sightlines, so operators can change position during long shifts without losing sight of the wall. Seating is rated for 24/7 intensive use, built for round-the-clock operation. Low-profile raised access flooring runs beneath the room, keeping power and data cabling out of sight while leaving it reachable as the center’s technology changes.

The War Room/Conference Room. For briefings and coordination during major incidents, FCR outfitted a conference space with a meeting table that seats 14 or more, with power and data built into the table. Two 75-inch LCD displays let teams share information, and the room uses the same 24/7 intensive-use seating as the operations floor.

Why Did Cumming Expand Its Real Time Crime Center?

Cumming expanded its Real Time Crime Center because the department had outgrown the smaller RTCC in its previous facility and needed additional capacity for technology, monitoring and real time intelligence operations.

Home to a growing population in Forsyth County, Cumming faces the same challenges as many fast-developing communities: more activity, more calls for service, and more incoming information than officers can easily absorb in the moment. The department had invested in key tools, but those systems lived in silos (video on one platform, LPRs on another, police databases somewhere else), which made it hard to use everything together during fast-moving incidents.

Leadership saw the new City Center campus as a chance to modernize policing, not just move into a larger building. As the city describes it, the RTCC brings camera, license plate reader, and other real-time data into a single operating picture, so trained personnel can share actionable information directly with officers in the field.

What Results Did the Original Cumming RTCC Deliver?

Before the move to the new headquarters, the original RTCC supported several publicly reported investigations:

Stolen trailer recovered more than 100 miles away. In February 2026, WSB-TV reported that Cumming police used their RTCC to help track a trailer stolen from a local storage facility to the Columbus area.¹ Working with law enforcement there, officers recovered the trailer along with additional items believed to be stolen, and suspects were arrested.

Jet Ski theft arrest. In February 2026, Forsyth County News reported that Cumming police credited the RTCC with helping identify a vehicle used in Jet Ski thefts, leading to an arrest on three counts of theft by taking.

How Was the Cumming RTCC Funded?

The new Cumming Police Department and Municipal Court building that houses the expanded RTCC was funded through developer impact fees. The RTCC technology investment was funded separately. In July 2025, the Cumming City Council approved $547,183.34 for the Real Time Crime Center system, with the Cumming Police Department Foundation funding 100 percent of the purchase and no impact to the City budget.
