Dunwoody RTCC: A Modern Crime Center for a Small City

Fountainhead Control Rooms designed and furnished the Dunwoody RTCC for the Dunwoody Police Department in Dunwoody, Georgia. The purpose built Real Time Crime Center transformed an existing roll call room into a centralized public safety environment with analyst workstations, officer overflow positions, an integrated podium and a full width video wall. The new layout supports real time intelligence, incident monitoring, briefings and coordinated police response while preserving the room’s roll call function.

Dunwoody RTCC Purpose and Operations

Opened August 2024 in Dunwoody, GA with a population of approximately 52,000 residents. This Real-Time Crime center operated by the Dunwoody Police Department provides a centralized, real-time hub for monitoring incidents, supporting officers, and reducing crime.

Core Technology Stack

Public safety operating system integrating various sources of data, including license plate recognition (LPR) cameras, gunshot detection systems, police body cameras, call geolocation, and third-party surveillance footage. These tools support police by helping to rapidly identify suspect vehicles, generate investigative leads, and support in-progress calls.

How Fountainhead Designed the Dunwoody RTCC

Multi-Person Room - 2 Real Time Analyst positions with officer/overflow positions, a podium for briefings and major incidents and a video display wall. Fountainhead Control Rooms designed and furnished the purpose-built Dunwoody Real-Time Crime Center, providing the control room layout, custom operator consoles, raised floor, and finishes. Originally, the space was a classroom-style roll call room with rows of tables and chairs. It was transformed with an analyst console, integrated podium, and full-width video wall providing a single operational picture for active incidents and briefings. The new layout improves sightlines, ergonomics, and collaboration while preserving the room’s roll call function.
