Situation

Dunwoody, GA — population approximately 52,000 — needed a centralized real-time hub for monitoring incidents, supporting officers, and reducing crime. The Dunwoody Police Department already had pieces of the technology stack but needed a single environment to bring them together.

Challenge

The space available was a classroom-style roll-call room with rows of tables and chairs. The transformation had to preserve the room's roll-call function while supporting 2 Real-Time Analysts plus officer and overflow positions, a briefing podium, and a full-width video display wall — without losing sightlines, ergonomics, or collaboration during major incidents.

Solution

Fountainhead Control Rooms designed and furnished the purpose-built Dunwoody Real Time Crime Center, providing the control room layout, custom operator consoles, raised floor, and finishes. The new layout integrates an analyst console, integrated podium, and full-width video wall — a single operational picture for active incidents and briefings. Flock Safety's public-safety OS ties together LPR cameras, gunshot detection, body cameras, call geolocation, and third-party surveillance footage so analysts can rapidly identify suspect vehicles, generate investigative leads, and support in-progress calls.

Results

The RTCC opened in August 2024 and immediately changed how Dunwoody PD operates. Analysts pull live camera views and LPR hits around active calls, relay actionable intel to officers, and support major events and higher-risk incidents from the RTCC. The center also supports post-incident investigations using historical LPR and video data to track vehicles, timelines, and patterns — backed by strong policy, training, and transparency around LPR, video, and emerging tools like drones.
