Real Time Crime Center for a Growing City — Chamblee, GA

Situation

Chamblee is a diverse, fast-growing city of about 32,000 residents in DeKalb County, part of metro Atlanta. Like many inner-ring suburbs, it faces big-city challenges — vehicle thefts, property crime, and regional incidents that spill across jurisdictional lines — without the staffing or footprint of a major metro department.

Challenge

Chamblee needed to bridge that capability gap with a Real Time Crime Center that gives officers instant access to video, data, and license plate intelligence in one place — so they can see emerging situations and coordinate with neighboring agencies. The RTCC had to enhance public safety through technology, data-driven policing, and real-time intelligence supporting patrol, traffic, and investigations.

Solution

Fountainhead Control Rooms designed and built the Chamblee Police Department RTCC, providing the operations room layout, video wall integration, operator workstation configuration, and overall facility design. The space was transformed from raw square footage into a fully functional, ergonomic command center optimized for 24/7 operations. The room is equipped with 80 city-wide PTZ cameras, 80 ALPRs, and a 6x2 video wall featuring two 98-inch displays.

Results

Demolition and construction began August 2025; the facility opened March 2026 with the City of Chamblee investing about $2M in construction and equipment — making real-time technology a core part of its public safety strategy. The RTCC also integrates with neighboring agencies' systems for seamless cross-jurisdiction information sharing.
